WICKSTEED PARK MODEL BOAT CLUB
ABOUT US

Wicksteed Park Model Boat Club is a relatively new club. There has, of course, been clubs in the past at "Wickies" but these have gradually declined and petered out. The current club started in February 2005 and is the first 'active' club at "Wickies" this century. The club  has some 70 members and meets at the lake on Thursday afternoons and Sunday mornings with an evening meeting at the Beeswing in Rockingham Road, Kettering every other Monday.

We have some excellent facilities within the 147 acre park. There are numerous cafes and restaurants and toilets, as well as a First Aid room and baby changing facilities. Disabled and wheelchair visitors are also catered for. For regular or visiting skippers this really can be a day out for the whole family. To find out more about the park click here.

The club itself has the use of a purpose made and recently refurbished model boating lake some 90m x 30m and the entire lake is accessible by waders. and has a path with a hard edge all round .We have the use of the lake seven days a week and also an indoor secure storage area just a few yards away, as well as a shelter on the lakeside for cover in inclement weather.

Finally we have the occasional use of part of the main 30 acre lake should we wish to stage large national events that are simply to big for the normal lake. We are always pleased to see visitors at Wicksteed Park as it is the country's first theme park.  It also has a large number of free swings, climbing frames  slides etc. so you can bring the family and have all day sailing in peace. There  is a charge for parking at Wicksteed Park (see the parks web site) If you would like to bring your club, we can make special arrangements for you. and we will be very pleased to see you.
